Abstract

The article presents a detailed performance analysis of a SiC-based DC/DC converter for solar power tower heliostat applications. It discusses the advantages of using SiC-MOSFETs over Si-IGBTs in terms of efficiency, switching losses, and thermal characteristics. The study includes a prototype heliostat drive system that was tested under various conditions, demonstrating the superior performance of SiC-MOSFET-based converters. The article also explores the challenges and future directions in developing efficient and cost-effective heliostat drive systems for solar power tower plants.
