Abstract

This chaptere delves into the performance assessment of Hot Mix Asphalt (HMA) with the addition of Ground Granulated Blast Furnace Slag (GGBFS) under varying compaction levels and moisture conditions. The study focuses on evaluating the volumetric properties such as air voids, porosity, and voids filled with bitumen, as well as mechanical properties like Marshall stability and flow. The research highlights the significant improvements in the mechanical and volumetric properties of HMA when GGBFS is used as a filler material. The findings indicate that GGBFS enhances the overall strength, durability, and resistance to moisture damage of asphalt mixtures. The study concludes that the addition of GGBFS not only improves the specific gravity and reduces air voids but also enhances the stability and reduces deformation under load, making it a promising additive for enhancing the performance of HMA.
