Abstract

Pharmaceutical warehousing has undergone significant transformations, from primitive storage methods to advanced, intelligent facilities driven by Industry 4.0 technologies. The chapter traces the evolution from manual handling and storage in Pharmahousing 1.0 to automated systems in Pharmahousing 3.0, and finally to cyber-physical systems in Pharmahousing 4.0. Each revolution has been marked by technological advancements that have increased efficiency, reduced costs, and enhanced the quality of healthcare services. The integration of AI, Big Data, Blockchain, and IoT has created a more decentralized, virtualized, and dynamic environment, shifting the focus from hospital-centric to patient-centric models. This transformation is crucial for meeting the rising demand for pharmaceuticals, especially in the context of an aging population and increasing pandemic diseases. The chapter concludes by anticipating the future of Pharmahousing 5.0, which promises even more innovative and human-centric solutions.
