Abstract

Photophysics is the physics of light, especially in dealing with its interaction with matter. In order to describe this interaction, light has to be treated both as a wave and as a particle. The wave nature of light, described as electromagnetic radiation, consists of two components, one electric and one magnetic. These two components form two separate waves of perpendicular orientation.
