Last year, the sporty Seat brand Cupra displayed the SUV as a concept car. Now the series version of the Cupra Formentor, with two different engines, is coming on the market.

The Cupra Formentor is the brand's first independently developed model. The design of the sporty model is strongly based on the concept car, which was presented at the 2019 Geneva Motor Show. The SUV is 4,450 millimetres long, 1,839 millimetres wide and 1,511 millimetres high, with 19-inch light-metal wheels. Copper-coloured details inside and outside are intended to underline the individuality of the model and the brand.

The 2,680 millimetre wheelbase should provide generous space in the interior. Leather-covered bucket seats emphasise the sportiness of the Formentor. The instrument cluster is digitally designed and the engine start button is on the steering wheel. The infotainment system with its 12-inch touchscreen offers online navigation in addition to voice and gesture control, and is compatible with Apple Carplay and Android Auto. The embedded SIM card enables the use of apps, online radio and other services. The driver assistance systems offered in the Formentor include Predictive Adaptive Cruise Control, Emergency Assist, Travel Assist and Side and Exit Assist, and enable semi-autonomous driving.

For the drive, customers can choose between the 2.0-litre TSI version with a 228 kilowatt (310 HP) output or the plug-in hybrid with a 110 kilowatt (150 HP) 1.4-litre TSI in combination with an 85 kilowatt (115 HP) electric motor. The power is transmitted to the 4Drive all-wheel drive via a dual-clutch gearbox. To increase vehicle dynamics, an adaptive DCC chassis and progressive steering are on board. The new Cupra Formentor comes on the market at the end of 2020.
