Abstract

This chapter delves into the postbuckling behavior of laminated composite plates subjected to uniform in-plane loads, focusing on both symmetric and antisymmetric configurations with and without stiffeners. The study employs finite element analysis using FORTRAN 90 to trace the equilibrium path and investigate various parameters such as aspect ratio, number of stiffeners, and ply orientation. Key findings include the distinct bifurcation point observed in symmetric laminates and the enhanced buckling load and postbuckling strength due to stiffeners. The text also highlights the differences in postbuckling responses between isotropic and composite plates, providing valuable insights for structural design optimization. Additionally, the study validates its formulations against previous research, ensuring the accuracy and reliability of the results. The chapter concludes with a discussion on the implications of these findings for practical applications in various industries.
