Abstract

The article explores the use of an adaptive-RBFNN algorithm to enhance power quality in single phase two level and five level converters. It delves into the challenges posed by nonlinear loads and harmonic distortions, highlighting the advantages of multilevel converters over conventional two-level converters. The study introduces a new control technique, the Adaptive-RBFNN algorithm, which is applied and compared on both converter topologies. The authors present detailed mathematical modeling, control algorithm formulations, and extensive experimental results, showcasing the effectiveness of the proposed method in reducing harmonics and improving power quality. The article concludes with a comparison of the two converter configurations, emphasizing the superior performance of the five-level cascaded H-bridge converter in terms of THD reduction and dynamic response.
