Abstract
CMOS circuits were always considered to be consuming lower power compared to most other semiconductor technologies. However, since mid-90 s, Power became a mainstream focus area even for CMOS based VLSI circuits. Even at that time, the maximum focus was on accurate measurement and estimation at the design stage itself. It took another few years, before Power Reduction also became a main-stream activity.
