Abstract

The precise dwelling position control in steady state for all switched reluctance (SR) motor phases was proposed in this paper. Initially, the precise dwelling positions in steady state for each phase are generated by using proposed tuning algorithms. These algorithms do not require prior knowledge of phase inductance profile of SR motor which is highly nonlinear. The precise dwelling positions are stored in lookup table of precisely tuned dwelling position (PTDP) detector which is incorporated in conventional controller. The precise implementation of dwelling positions in real time is done by using incremental encoder along with existing optical sensors. The improved performance of proposed PTDP detector incorporated in conventional controller is justified from the comparison of experimental results with conventional controller.
