Abstract

This chapter delves into the critical issue of protecting personal data through secure pin pad modules. It discusses the vulnerabilities of traditional physical keypads to attacks like shoulder surfing and thermal imaging. The proposed solution involves a pressure-sensitive pin pad that provides real-time tactile feedback, making it harder for attackers to discern passwords. The design incorporates a capacitive pressure sensor that detects varying pressures and translates them into distinct vibration patterns, enhancing user perception and security. The chapter also presents experimental results demonstrating the effectiveness of this approach in reducing the success rate of attacks. By integrating advanced sensor technology and user-friendly feedback mechanisms, this chapter offers a promising solution to the growing threat of password theft.
