Abstract

This chapter delves into the construction of privately puncturable pseudorandom functions (PRFs) from the decisional composite residuosity (DCR) assumption, resolving a significant open problem in cryptography. The authors introduce a novel technique based on distributed discrete logarithms and homomorphic secret sharing, which enables the construction of private constrained PRFs for functions with polynomially bounded Waring rank, including puncturing. The chapter provides a comprehensive technical overview, detailing the construction process and comparing it with previous works. It also explores the applications of Waring rank in cryptography and demonstrates how the puncturing constraint can be expressed with a polynomial of bounded degree and Waring rank.
