The Autonomous Process Unit (VTE), a joint project by Krone and Lemken, is designed to address the labor shortage in agriculture by automating various arable farming and grassland processes. The VTE consists of an autonomous pulling unit and smart implements equipped with sensors, enabling real-time data exchange and process optimization. The pulling unit features a diesel-electric drivetrain, 360° environment perception using lidar and cameras, and precise track guidance using a geofence system. Implements are intelligently integrated with the VTE, allowing for automated work processes and predictive maintenance. The article highlights specific applications of the VTE in soil cultivation, mechanical weed control, and grassland processes, demonstrating its potential to revolutionize autonomous farming.
