Rohm has announced its power supply monitoring IC BD39040MUF-C with integrated self-diagnostics. It was designed to facilitate the configuration of functional safety systems and is the ideal solution for automotive applications such as driver assistance systems (ADAS) that require fail-safe components. It also integrates a voltage monitor, a watchdog-timer to monitor the electronic control unit and self-monitoring functions for the reference voltage and oscillator frequency. The integration of these functions into one housing of just 3 mm2 makes the circuit a suitable solution for ADAS applications that require a high degree of miniaturization. It is qualified according to AEC-Q100 (grade 1) and operates within a voltage range of 2.7 to 5.5 V.
