Joynext is launching a system for the lane-level-precision positioning of vehicles. It uses GPS satellite data in combination with lane information obtained from an additional camera in the vehicle. This data is constantly compared with high- precision map data. A tracking algorithm also constantly monitors, assesses and checks the determined vehicle position for plausibility. The lane-level positioning system is now being used in vehicles of a German automotive group. Initially, the system will help drivers navigate on freeways and interchanges. It can be updated online and will be successively upgraded as more HD map data becomes available. Federal highways will then also be included. The aim is to offer lane-level-precision positioning of vehicles on all roads, including inner-city roads.
