Toyota has unveiled the bZ4X model, the brand's first vehicle with an all-electric powertrain. It is based on the modular e-TNGA platform. The SUV features a battery with 71 kWh of energy capacity and is said to be able to travel up to 450 km on a single charge, with an energy requirement of 19.3 to 15.9 kWh per 100 km. Purchasers can choose between front-wheel drive (150 kW) and all-wheel drive (160 kW). The all-wheel-drive version has an 80-kW electric motor on both the front and rear axles. In both drive variants, the lithium-ion battery is integrated in the underbody. Energy is stored via the CCS2 connection on the driver's side using either alternating current or direct current. The battery can be charged to 80 % in around 30 min at a public 150-kW fast-charging station. Toyota guarantees that the battery's energy content will not fall below 70 % in the first eight years or 160,000 km.
