Since vehicles and particularly trucks demand increasingly high levels of cell current, Comemso has launched a new variant of its battery cell simulator BCS with the name of Advanced. It enables currents on a cell level of up to 7.5 A and 5V cell voltage both as source and as sink in permanent operation. Advanced BCS supports cascading of the emulated cells up to a stack voltage of 1500 V. The previous 6 A can still be achieved at 8 V. The new model also contains proven functions such as fault simulation of a cable break, short-circuit of a cell, and the polarity switch of a cell, but also with the previously high precision of 2 mA / = 0.5 mV both for measurement and for the generation of the current and voltage values. The new software feature Voltage Oscillation offers extended fault simulation: When charging with AC via the vehicle's onboard charger, the BMS may be subjected to electromagnetic interference radiation. The BMS can filter this interference but too much filtering can prevent monitoring the dynamic cell behavior. Voltage Oscillation can model a quasi-sinusoidal voltage on the DC voltage during a test with an individually adjustable amplitude per cell in the range of up to 35 mV (70 mVpp) and a frequency of 1 to 1000 Hz in order to emulate an interference signal. The feature can be updated on demand in the BCS generations 8 and 7.
