Abstract

The chapter delves into the critical process of R&D project selection within an automotive company's R&D center, emphasizing the significance of multi-criteria decision-making methods. It introduces the fuzzy TOPSIS method as a robust tool for evaluating project ideas, particularly useful for handling the complexity and uncertainty inherent in such decisions. The application of fuzzy logic allows for the conversion of linguistic evaluations into quantitative data, enabling more objective and informed project selection. The case study presented illustrates the practical implementation of this method, demonstrating its effectiveness in ranking project alternatives and identifying the most promising initiatives for initiation. The chapter concludes by highlighting the potential for future research and the adaptability of the fuzzy TOPSIS method in various decision-making contexts.
