The first section of the concluding chapter serves to sum up the research results and interpret them against the background of the research question. To do so, it seems helpful to start by briefly recalling the aim of this research project, as stated in the introduction: to define promising theoretical pathways to apprehend Qatar’s disproportionate diplomatic weight between 1995 and 2013. As has been shown, other authors and previous research projects have already dealt with the question of how the young country could succeed in “creating itself” (Koschorke and Kaminskij 2011, 17) as “one of the leading regional actors in the international relations of the Middle East” (Khatib 2013, 417).
