Abstract

The chapter delves into the significance of quality audit indicators for inbound tourism, focusing on Malaysian travel agencies. It highlights the need for certification standards to promote sustainable tourism development and the lack of specific indicators for travel agencies. Through a qualitative study involving focus group interviews with experienced travel agency operators, the chapter identifies key criteria and indicators that can be used to develop a certification program. These criteria include first impressions, business information, facilities, staff code of conduct, performance and management of inbound tours, local guide quality and expertise, safety management, and sustainable practices. The study emphasizes the importance of these indicators for improving service delivery standards and enhancing the overall quality of inbound tourism services.
