Abstract

This article introduces a new measure for quantifying coherence in quantum channels using trace distance, a method that is both intuitive and computationally feasible. The authors demonstrate the advantages of this measure through a series of examples, including the coherence measures of depolarizing, phase damping, and amplitude damping quantum channels. They also provide a thorough analysis of the measure's properties, such as extremal property, monotonicity, convexity, and non-additivity. Notably, the measure is shown to be non-additive under the composition of channels, highlighting the complexity of quantum coherence. The article concludes by providing a sufficient condition for a quantum channel to be coherent, offering a valuable contribution to the field of quantum information theory.
