To adequately consider the risks of a behavior in the planning and control of automated driving maneuvers, professors at TU Darmstadt propose the consistent propagation of uncertainties along the processing chain from the sensor to the actuator. Seen as a tolerance chain, this can also be used to decide which sensors or algorithms need to adjust their precision, resolution, etc. This can reduce uncertainties that prevent the planner from enabling beneficial behavior. …
