Abstract

The article introduces a new deterministic method for quantitative characterization of surface topography, addressing the limitations of the spectral moment method. It uses the Moving Least-Squares Method (MLS) to accurately determine asperities' properties, such as density, radius, and height distribution. The study compares the deterministic method with the spectral moment method, highlighting the former's stability and accuracy in predicting contact model parameters. The research demonstrates the deterministic method's reliability in contact stiffness analysis, making it a valuable tool for understanding wear, lubrication, and other contact-related phenomena.
