Abstract

The article delves into the transformative potential of integrating quantum dots into Quantum Key Distribution (QKD) systems, addressing the vulnerabilities of traditional cryptographic methods in the era of quantum computing. It explores the unique properties of quantum dots, such as tunable emission wavelengths and high photon generation rates, which enhance the security and efficiency of QKD systems. The study introduces the Quantum Dot-Enhanced Secure Key Exchange Protocol (QD-SKEP), which optimizes photon generation and minimizes quantum bit error rates (QBER) through strategic quantum dot placement and emission properties. The research also addresses the security challenges posed by quantum dot integration, proposing novel cryptographic protocols and countermeasures to ensure system resilience. Furthermore, the article presents a detailed simulation and experimental framework for validating the proposed QD-SKEP protocol, demonstrating significant improvements in key generation rates and reductions in QBER. The findings underscore the importance of advanced techniques in achieving secure and efficient quantum communication channels, paving the way for future advancements in quantum communication technologies.
