Abstract

The study investigates the eutectic melting and relocation behavior of B4C-SS in sodium-cooled fast reactors (SFRs) under high temperatures, using radiative heating techniques. The research focuses on understanding the safety implications of core disruptive accidents (CDAs) by examining the eutectic reaction processes and the behavior of melt debris during relocation. The innovative visualization method employed allows for detailed observation of the eutectic melt's dynamic behavior, providing crucial data for validating numerical simulations and improving safety evaluations in SFRs. The findings offer valuable insights into the structural and phase characteristics of the solidified eutectic melt, contributing to the development of more accurate models for severe accident codes.
