Abstract

The article discusses the challenges of frequent load shedding and the need for sustainable power solutions in commercial buildings, particularly in India. It introduces an IoT-based intelligent source allocation system (IoT-ISAS) that integrates renewable energy sources like solar PV and battery backup systems with traditional power sources such as grid and diesel generators. The system uses a decision tree machine learning algorithm to optimize the allocation of power sources, ensuring continuous supply and reducing electricity tariffs. The implementation of IoT-ISAS in a commercial building in Madurai, Tamil Nadu, India, demonstrates its effectiveness in managing various loads and optimizing energy usage. The study highlights the benefits of the system, including improved energy efficiency, reduced costs, and enhanced sustainability. The article also provides a detailed evaluation of the system's performance through various scenarios, showcasing its ability to adapt to different power source availability conditions and optimize energy usage accordingly.
