The Carbonate Microfabrics symposium and workshop brought together four generations of researchers from academia, government, and industry. The major objective of the workshop was to define a set of recommendations for future research. We expect that these recommendations will highlight problem areas and provide direction for that research. The problems and recommendations as outlined by this group are loosely prioritized:
