Abstract

The article explores the reduction behavior of large-sized round blooms during continuous casting using numerical simulation. It highlights the effectiveness of mechanical reduction in minimizing central porosity and improving the homogeneity of the bloom. The study focuses on the deformation characteristics of the contour and shrinkage zone, as well as the relationship between reduction parameters and contact width. The findings are validated through experimental data, demonstrating the potential of numerical simulation in optimizing the reduction process. The article also discusses the reduction efficiency and compares it with hot rolling processes, emphasizing the advantages of continuous casting in achieving deeper deformation into the center of the bloom.
