Hydrogen is increasingly becoming the central element in the switch from fossil to renewable energies. In its pure form or processed into synthetic liquid fuels, green hydrogen can take on the role of intermediate storage for renewably generated electricity, thus helping to overcome one of the biggest hurdles. Another possibility is liquid fuels based on biomass, which contribute to the provision of CO 2-neutral energy sources for industrial and automotive applications. Taking a holistic view of all sectors is crucial here. In this way, renewably produced fuels would become the urgently needed transmission belt, so to speak, that transfers the energy transition to the mobility sector. …
