Abstract

The article discusses the critical issue of load-generation imbalance in industrial power systems with in-plant generation, which can lead to significant frequency declines. It introduces a RegPSO-ANN-based load shedding technique that optimizes load shedding to maintain system stability. The proposed method uses a multi-layer feedforward neural network trained with RegPSO to determine the optimal amount of load to shed. The article highlights the advantages of this approach over conventional under-frequency relay-based load shedding schemes, demonstrating improved accuracy and faster transient performance. The study includes a comprehensive analysis of various operating scenarios and fault contingencies, showcasing the effectiveness of the RegPSO-ANN technique in maintaining system stability and reducing frequency deviations.
