Abstract

The chapter delves into the intricate challenges posed by the rapid development of UHV AC/DC interconnected power grids, particularly the 'strong DC, weak AC' characteristic that complicates AC-DC coupling relationships. It highlights the issues caused by the replacement of conventional power sources with DC infeed, leading to reduced grid inertia and increased vulnerability to faults. The text also explores the weak connection of UHVAC lines and the high risk of splitting, exacerbated by the increasing capacity of multi-infeed DC systems. The chapter introduces theoretical bases for AC/DC coordinated control, including emergency coordination control and DC damping control, and presents simulation verifications of these control methods. These innovative solutions aim to improve power fluctuation, dynamic stability, and voltage stability in UHV AC/DC hybrid power grids, offering a promising pathway to enhance the security and stability of these complex systems.
