Abstract

The article delves into the use of neural networks in English education, focusing on the prediction of students' performance using a back-propagation neural network (BPNN) optimized by the firefly algorithm (FA). The research highlights the efficiency and reliability of the FA-BPNN algorithm through experimental analysis, comparing it with traditional BPNN, GA-BPNN, PSO-BPNN, and the ANFIS method. The study shows that the FA-BPNN algorithm outperforms other methods in terms of training time and prediction accuracy, making it a promising tool for enhancing intelligent English courses. The article also discusses the relevance of data mining techniques in education and the potential of machine learning algorithms to improve teaching methods and student outcomes.
