Abstract

The article presents a comprehensive method for assessing fire spread risk in enclosed buildings, focusing on the initial fire spread from one compartment to another. It divides the fire spread process into three stages: fire fully developed in the fire compartment, failure of weak barriers, and combustibles ignited in the target compartment. The method uses a linear regression model to predict fire spread time efficiently and a Probit model to assess fire spread risk. The article highlights the use of Monte Carlo simulations to account for uncertainties and validates the method through experiments and case studies. This approach provides valuable guidance for fire prevention, building fire design, and fire rescue.
