Abstract

The article delves into the critical issue of tunnel stability by investigating the performance of a new tension–compression rock bolt. Through numerical simulations, researchers analyzed the impact of different anchorage lengths and confining pressures on bolt failure modes. The study introduces a novel composite bolt that combines tension and compression sections, significantly enhancing the bolt's ultimate load and ductility. The research also includes a detailed analysis of the shear stress distribution and axial force distribution in the bolt, providing valuable insights into optimizing bolt design and installation. The findings highlight the potential of this new bolt design to reduce stress concentration and improve overall bolt performance, making it a promising solution for large deformation tunnels and deep foundation pits.
