Abstract

The chapter delves into the critical issue of urban traffic congestion, highlighting the importance of effective traffic control measures. It focuses on the discrete traffic flow model, specifically Robertson's geometric distribution model, and examines the optimal time interval for data acquisition to validate this model. Through extensive field surveys and data analysis, the research concludes that a time interval of 1-5 seconds yields the most accurate results, significantly improving the accuracy of traffic flow predictions. This study not only contributes to the optimization of signal timing at intersections but also provides valuable insights for future traffic surveys and data processing.
