Abstract

The article addresses the challenges posed by increasing electricity demand on conventional grids and the inefficiencies in the residential sector. It introduces a holistic mathematical model for residential power scheduling within smart grids, incorporating renewable energy and storage systems. The model optimizes cost, Peak-to-Average Ratio, and user comfort by scheduling devices based on user preferences under Time-of-Use pricing. The study validates the model through simulations, demonstrating significant reductions in energy bills and PAR, particularly under ToU pricing. The approach grants users autonomy in choosing their comfort levels, making it a standout solution in the field of energy management.
