Rethinking artificial intelligence from the perspective of interdisciplinary knowledge production

We are in a time that artificial intelligence (AI) has a profound impact on the production and dissemination of knowledge. This article explores the development and potential of artificial intelligence from the perspective of interdisciplinary knowledge production. The focus is placed on interdisciplinary knowledge production due to its increasing prevalence in higher education and social life. According to Gibbons et al. (1994), this new model of knowledge production differs from traditional approaches as it engages a broader, transient, and diverse assembly of experts working together to address particular challenges within specific settings. AI systems utilize algorithms, data, and computational power to simulate various aspects of human intelligence, enabling them to process information effectively.
