Reverse Engineering in Electroless Coatings: An Application on Bath Parameter Optimization for User-Defined Ni-B-P Coating Properties

Abstract

The chapter delves into the optimization of electroless Ni-B-P coating properties using AI techniques. It begins by discussing the advantages of electroless coatings, particularly Ni-P coatings, in various industries. The focus then shifts to the use of genetic algorithms (GAs) for optimizing coating properties, highlighting the efficiency and accuracy of this approach. The Taguchi experimental design method is employed to minimize experiments, and artificial neural networks (ANNs) are used for machine learning to predict coating properties. The integration of ANN-GA methods demonstrates significant improvements in coating hardness, corrosion resistance, and thickness. The chapter concludes with a discussion on future work, emphasizing the potential for cost reduction and further advancements in coating technology.
