Abstract

Autism is a developmental disorder characterized by abnormal communication-verbal behaviors. This disorder affects the brain normal growth and development associated with social interactions and communication skills. The real cause of the disease is still unknown; however, some studies are working on identifying the disease cause. One research approach is to study the social networks of mass communication like Twitter. Using Twitter as a social network allows people to share information on autism, which enhances their knowledge in this area and leads to further recognition of autism. In this study, we have reviewed a month of tweets of users regarding this context. We showed in this research that people highly cooperate with each other in raising awareness and treatment of autism, which can greatly help in further recognizing of autism and also indicates the influence of Twitter as a social network on improvement and training of people on how to cope with autism.
