Abstract

The chapter presents a modular RGB-D processing pipeline for railway platform monitoring, leveraging depth data to enhance 3D object detection and tracking. It introduces the RailEye3D dataset, which includes stereo camera data and annotations for benchmarking detection and tracking algorithms. The paper highlights the advantages of combining RGB and depth data for better target separation, segmentation, and occlusion reasoning. The evaluation results show that integrating depth information significantly improves detection and tracking performance, making the proposed methods suitable for real-time safety monitoring in transportation settings.
