Abstract

The article investigates the rheological properties of partially dissolved cellulose composites (PDCC) with high cellulose content, focusing on the effects of cellulose content and temperature. The study reveals that PDCC exhibits significantly higher viscosity compared to cellulose solutions, with a viscosity of up to 10^3 Pa·s for 50 wt% cellulose content. The rheological behavior of PDCC is characterized by shear thinning, similar to molten LDPE, and is influenced by both cellulose content and temperature. The article also demonstrates the potential of PDCC for manufacturing large products, such as structural components, by hot pressing PDCC boards with smooth surfaces. The findings offer a promising avenue for processing cellulose as intermediate products for various applications.
