Abstract

The article introduces a novel rockburst time warning method based on microseismic information time series, specifically tailored for tunnel excavation using the drilling and blasting (D&B) method. Rockbursts, dynamic phenomena causing significant damage and casualties in underground engineering, are a growing concern as human activities reach deeper levels. The proposed method uses blasting cycles as the unit for prediction, leveraging deep learning techniques to analyze microseismic data and forecast rockburst occurrences and intensities. The method involves establishing a microseismic information prediction model (MSIPM) and a rockburst time warning model (RBTWM) using Long Short-Term Memory networks (LSTM). The MSIPM predicts microseismic parameters for subsequent blasting cycles, while the RBTWM predicts the intensity and timing of potential rockbursts. The article also discusses data preprocessing, handling sample imbalance, and the practical implementation of the warning method in a railway tunnel project. The method's effectiveness is demonstrated through case studies and comparisons with actual rockburst events, highlighting its potential to enhance safety in underground engineering projects.
