Abstract

This chapter delves into the potential of rockwool as a sustainable alternative to conventional geosynthetic materials in ground improvement solutions. By examining rockwool's unique properties, such as high thermal resistance and durability, the study highlights its advantages over traditional materials. The research also presents laboratory investigations and finite element modeling to assess the behavior of rockwool in micropile ground improvement, showcasing significant improvements in load-bearing capacity and damping characteristics. The chapter concludes by emphasizing rockwool's potential in enhancing the resilience of infrastructure subjected to dynamic loads, such as railway tracks, making it a promising material for sustainable and efficient ground improvement solutions.
