Abstract

The chapter delves into the critical role of the Indonesian Society for Geotechnical Engineering (ISGE) in enhancing Indonesia's earthquake resilience. It highlights significant activities undertaken by ISGE in collaboration with the government, such as updating Indonesian geotechnical standards, revising the Indonesian Earthquake Map, and conducting detailed studies on earthquake events and liquefaction. The chapter also discusses the seismic risk assessment of Jakarta, the analysis of the devastating 2018 Palu earthquake, and the establishment of the Nalodo Research Center. These efforts underscore ISGE's commitment to reducing the impact of earthquakes through advanced research and practical applications. The chapter concludes by emphasizing the importance of continuous updates to seismic hazard maps and bridge design standards, reflecting Indonesia's ongoing efforts to mitigate earthquake risks.
