Abstract

The chapter addresses the critical need for sustainable ocean monitoring technologies to combat marine pollution and climate change. It emphasizes the challenges posed by the harsh ocean environment and the limitations of traditional power supplies, advocating for in situ energy harvesting as a viable solution. The text delves into the evolution of triboelectric nanogenerators (TENGs), highlighting their simplicity, cost-effectiveness, and robustness compared to other energy harvesting technologies. The rolling mode mechanism is presented as a groundbreaking approach, with notable innovations such as the RF-TENG and SS-TENG showcasing efficient charge transfer and enhanced power output.
