Excerpt

The study investigates the effectiveness of Haptic Shared Control (HSC) during takeover maneuvers in SAE Level-3 automated vehicles. Using a driving simulator, researchers from Cruden and Delft University of Technology compared HSC to Traded Control (TC), focusing on driver reaction times, safety margins, and vehicle control. The results indicate that HSC improves safety and driver performance, but also highlights the need for further adaptation based on the criticality of the takeover scenario and driver intentions.
