This chapter explores a scalable dual-stage design for robust security in wireless sensor networks (WSNs), addressing critical security threats such as Sybil attacks, sinkhole attacks, and energy depletion. The proposed framework employs a trust-aware Decision Tree at the cluster head level for lightweight, energy-efficient prescreening, escalating only ambiguous or suspicious cases to the server for deep analysis using hybrid models like CNN+RF and AE+LightGBM. The integration of SHAP-based interpretability ensures end-to-end explainability, revealing feature impact and supporting operational trust and regulatory needs. The chapter also compares the performance of the proposed framework with existing approaches, highlighting its superior accuracy, robustness, and energy efficiency.
