Abstract

The chapter discusses the growing demand for gas in the North Sea and the application of multi-fractured horizontal well technology for tight gas reservoirs. It introduces a semi-analytical flow simulation model to determine the optimal number of fractures for efficient reservoir drainage. The model accounts for fracture spacing, type, and communication, providing insights into well productivity and gas production. The case study demonstrates the model's capabilities using data from a North Sea well, highlighting the importance of optimal fracture design for enhanced gas recovery.
