Abstract

This chapter explores the security amplification of threshold signatures, focusing on achieving strong unforgeability in the standard model. It begins by examining the hierarchy of security notions for threshold signatures, highlighting the differences between weak and strong unforgeability. The text introduces Threshold Chameleon Hash Functions (TCHF) as a novel building block, detailing its definition, properties, and security requirements. The chapter discusses the transformation of weakly-secure threshold signatures into strongly-secure ones using TCHF, emphasizing the importance of adaptive collision-resistance and preimage resistance. Additionally, it presents an instantiation of TCHF under the DDH assumption in prime-order groups, providing a practical implementation of the theoretical concepts. The chapter concludes with a security analysis, demonstrating the effectiveness of the proposed methods in enhancing the security of threshold signatures.
