Audi has unveiled the new A6 sedan with combustion engines. As in the Avant, the gasoline and diesel engines are partly equipped with MHEV plus mild hybrid technology.

Audi A6 Sedan

Like the Avant model already unveiled, the exterior design of the 4.99 m long and 1.88 m wide A6 sedan has been only slightly modified. The narrow headlights offer up to seven digital light signatures as an option, as do the rear lights, which also feature optional OLED lights. The drag coefficient of 0.23 is currently the best for a production model with a combustion engine at Audi. This is achieved in part by the air curtains and a front spoiler in the front bumper, which reduces front axle lift. At the rear, the sharp radius of the trunk lid with the hollow molding in front ensures optimum airflow. The A6 with combustion engines is based on the PPC (Premium Platform Combustion) architecture.

The five-seater has a wheelbase of 2.99 m. The curved MMI panorama display in the cockpit consists of the 11.9-inch Audi Virtual Cockpit and the 14.5-inch MMI touch display. The 10.9-inch MMI passenger display is also available as an option. A switchable panoramic glass roof, a premium sound system from Bang & Olufsen, and four-zone automatic climate control are available for the interior. The trunk under the optional electric tailgate has a load capacity of up to 492 liters, depending on the version. The rear seats can also be folded down in a 40:20:40 split.

Audi A6 with MHEV Combustion Engines

As with the Avant, the entry-level model is the 150 kW (204 hp) 2.0-litre TFSI petrol engine with front-wheel drive. It delivers a maximum torque of 340 Nm. The A6 sedan is also available as a mild hybrid: The 2.0 TDI four-cylinder engine with 150 kW (204 hp) delivers a maximum torque of 400 Nm. It is available with front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive. The 3.0-litre TFSI six-cylinder engine with 270 kW (367 hp) delivers 550 Nm of torque and is only available as a Quattro model. The MHEV plus models feature a 48-volt battery, a belt starter generator (RSG) and the powertrain generator (TSG) with integrated power electronics. The electric motor provides up to 230 Nm of torque and up to 18 kW (24 hp) of power. During deceleration, the TSG recovers up to 25 kW of energy.

Progressive steering is standard. All-wheel steering and adaptive air suspension with 20 mm lower ride height are also available as options for the business sedan. In addition to the vehicle level, it also regulates the damping. In dynamic mode, the trim angle is lowered by another 10 mm. The new Audi A6 sedan will be launched in mid-April as a TFSI 150 kW model priced at €55,500 and will be produced in Neckarsulm.
