Shortening the vacuum treatment of steel by VDF/VODF technology

Abstract

An advanced technology for refining steel in ladle-type vacuum-degassing units is described, and hydrodynamic and mass-transfer processes in the ladle are analyzed. It is shown that degassing time can be shortened as much as 10–15% by using the new design of vacuum degasser.
